Dr Iain MacLeod obtained his primary medical degree (MBChB) from Aberdeen University in 2000, in addition to an intercalated BSc(Hon)MedSci 2:1 degree.
He undertook a wide variety of medical speciality training posts thereafter and has been a qualified GP since 2007. He has been a full time GP partner at the same East Lothian practice for 17 years (since 2008).
He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (2003) and the Royal College of General Practitioners (2007).
He has accrued over 30,000 hours of General Practice experience and is a well known and highly respected family doctor.
He is responsible for medical student training at his practice and is an examiner with The University of Edinburgh medical school. He is closely involved in supervising and mentoring GP trainees at his practice.
Dr MacLeod has successfully completed the Bond Solon University of Aberdeen Expert Witness Certificate which included components of Law and Procedure, Witness Familiarisation and Courtroom Skills, Excellence in Report Writing and training in Cross Examination.

In his spare time, Dr MacLeod enjoys supporting his teenage children's sporting endeavours. He enjoys walking, running, mountain biking, golfing and trips back to his native Isle of Lewis.
